The only way the two have something in common is that weight loss occurs with caloric restriction, one by using the device of volume control and the other weight. Any approach that restricts calories will work.

Bottom line, the last statement is not true, in this very news group I read about someone rejecting the two pound diet because of negative effects. There is no "proof" that is accepted by science until it has been put to the test of presentation before the scientific community and found valid. None such exists for the two pound diet which has no scientific basis for the claims made for it and its advocate knows it and he would be laughed off the scientific scene if even an attempt were to be made.

Part of the problem Dr. with your thought process, is that you see EVERYTHING relating to Jesus. It reminds me of Sesame Street's character that see's triangles everywhere. True, the world can be analysed from many differenent paradigms so that you can see the world as functioning through the cause and effect of science, supply and demand if you are an economist, sets of laws if you are a lawyer, or religion as you do.
