Never believe paint samples
I just finished painting our bedroom <pain>. The sample was a pretty, light green, with a little gray to it - dusky, I guess. On the walls it is just institution green. I don't think it will grow on me (although fungus does come to mind). I'm so sore and I think I'm going to have to do it over!

OT: When the Levees Broke
Did anyone watch this on HBO last night? It's a 4-part series by Spike Lee, and it's heartbreaking. (Parts I and II were last night, parts III and IV are tonight.) I'm not a huge Spike Lee fan, but he does not narrate and simply lets the people tell their own stories. The photos and video footage are stunning. Margie
OT- Anyone ever see this rash before?
We're headed to the doctor in a bit, but this is unlike anything that I've seen. I've also asked a few moms if they've seen it, and we're all puzzled. These are on my 4-year-old son. They're flat, not itchy, evenly colored, and perfectly round. They don't seem to bother him. He hasn't run a fever. Last night he only had 2, but now he's up to about 12. The only reason that we're headed off to the doc is because we did pull two deer ticks off him 7 weeks ago (to the day) after he spent the weekend on the North Fork of Long Island, which is known for all the deer ticks and Lyme (and wineries
Break in the JonBenet Ramsey case
It is so terrible that her poor mother died still under a cloud of suspicion. They have arrested a man in Thialand for her murder. Can you imagine going through the pain of losing your daughter and at the same time getting bombarded by the press and police as a suspect in her murder. Too bad this didn't happen a few months ago and her mother could have died in peace. Barbara -- bsptss
Judity - where's the sequel?
Loved the book!! Now where's the sequel? Someone warned us that there was unfinished business to be told and I want the rest of the story :) My husband wanted to know why I loved the book if all the pieces were not neatly wrapped up. I told him many books just answer the main story plot and leave other minor story lines unanswered. I told him I was waiting for the next book. He then asked what I liked about the book. Again, I liked the short chapters, but I especially liked that you so quickly gave me a visual of each character and because each character was distinct, it was easy
Advice to Young Brides (from an article in 1894 :).
Okay ladies, apparently we've been rolling over (so to speak) for this sex thing for far too long: http://www.snopes.com/weddings/newlywed/advice.asp

OT - Question for any Californian home owner
Do any of you have earthquake insurance on your home? My insurance company sent me a notice about it, and I'm wondering if it's worth it. The policy wouldn't be through the company that insures my home but handled by them for the California Earthquake Authority. The amount of dwelling coverage they quote is for $183,143 with an applicable deductible of $27,471. If the deductible isn't reached, the amount of contents coverage of $5,000 isn't paid. There is an amount of additional living expenses of $1,500, but I don't see it's tied into that deductible. The rate or premium is only $350, so
