Is a sinus lift (maxillary) reversible?
OK I have searched everywhere and can't find an answer to this. Is a sinus lift with bone graft, done to support on implant on a back molar, reversible in any way? If it 'failed' would the sinus membrane drop back down on its own? any comments greatly appreciated.
root canal treatment
I did my root canal treatment today but anytime I bite on something it hurts. I was not even scared when the densit used that syringe to numb the area.
Not happy with dental work
This problem goes wya back. I had a dentist I loved, but she stopped taking my insurance, so I went back to a practice I had formerly used. They assigned me a dentist, but I didn't like him. Among other things, he had a full conversation with the assistant while working on my teeth - and the conversation was about a former dentist at the practice that was suing them. So I got another dentist within the practice. I really liked her manner, although everything with her seemed to take a long time and there always seemed to be a problem with the "ropes" they use around a crown or with pain af
Help......What Can Be Done?........New Denture Big Problem
Hi, I just found your group, sorry if this is a bit long need to explain. On 4/21/05 Oral Surgeon pulled out all my top teeth, then I went directly to my dentist office for her to put in the Immediate Denture. Only had to have a few adjustments and these dentures worked great, I can even eat steak, hard pretzels, pizza, Italian bread, bagels, without any problems. But they finally got loose, so on 10/28/05 I went in for a liner..........they were working great again until I finally saved enough money to get the new top denture. (I forgot to say I am on SS Disability and the Immediates were $
Could not get numb enough
I went to Immediadent, a walk-in dentist office for a toothache. First the dentist gave me 3 shots to numb me and let me sit for an hour. When she came to start drilling, I felt some pain so she gave me 6 more shots. And kept drilling . By that time I was shaking and almost ready to cry. We took a break . when I came back in she gave me 9 more shots of 3 different types of anesthetic. It still hurt when she drilled so she apologized and referred me to a Dentist that would sedate me. It's $375 for sedation for 1 hour. I'm just curious why after 18 shots the tooth bothering me was still thro
Distal cusp broke on back molar
Short version of my question: When repairing a backmost molar, is it REALLY essential to restore a broken distal cusp? If so, why? Longer story: A few months ago, the distal-lingual cusp on my mandibular left second molar (#18 in the US; #37 in Canada and elsewhere) broke off without any warning (and without any pain) while I was eating. FWIW, since my wisdom teeth were removed when I was in my teens, my second molars are my backmost teeth. My dentist has attempted to repair the tooth twice, by building a new cusp using composite resin. The first time, the new cusp seemed just fine at fi
Question for Docs, Splinted crowns
I have 4 implant supported crowns, 13, 14, 29 and 30. All crowns/implants are stable and in excellent condition. 29 and 30 are not splinted. 13 and 14 are splinted, requiring me to use a floss threader when I floss. Is the primary reason 13 and 14 are splinted related to the fact that bone density in the upper jaw is less than the lower jaw ? Are there other possible reasons why the DDS decided to splint these two crowns. Thanks for info. Neil
filling or crown
I was told by my dentist I have an old large filling that's starting to fracture and probably can be re-done at least one more time before a crown might have to take it's place. I have no problem with that except my wife says in a few years we may not have dental insurance then (retirement) and wonders if I should just go with the crown now rather than later? Also perhaps our income might be less then so that might be another consideration. I know some dentists do take non insured patients and charge less for their services tho I'm not sure about mine right now. I will try to investigate t
Dealing with a scam
Very long story somewhat short My mom went to her dentist to take care of a painful tooth and he determined she needed a crown. She had dental insurance which has since ended. The dentist started work and put in a temp and waited for the crown to be made. Meanwhile there was something wrong with the insurance which took a few months to resolve. The dentist kept pushing my mom to take care of the problem so he could finish the work. Eventually, the insurance came through and sent the dentist the check to cover the crown work. Meanwhile, the temp my mom had fell out and she spent months i
bone graft situation
two weeks ago i had a bone graft in a large area of the bottom of my mouth..i warned the doctor about a dysfunctional salivary gland and he said it just will take longer for it to drain after the surgery. i usually have to palpate it everyday and i didn't for 8 days because of the graft. i took zithromax after the procedure. i noticed alot of pain and soreness for nine days.when he took the stitches out i began to have a bitter taste seeping through my mouth in the graft area. went back twice to see the doctor and he said it was healing fine and that maybe it was my gland that gave me that t
Cloves
I have recently started to suck on whole cloves. I use about 3 to 5 a day and place the one clove stud between my gum and cheek. Does this present any health hazards? I began doing this originally as a mouth freshener and have since found that it also is an appetite suppressant. I am a 63 old male with no medical problems other than a slightly enlarged prostate. Thanks Tim
Full Mouth Debridement -- do not fear.
I'm 36 hours out from an FMD, and not at all upset about the procedure. My brand new -to me-RDH was fantastic and I am totally amazed at how well it went and how little I stressed. I have GAD, so I can go 'over the edge" very easily. I was pretty sore last evening, but slept well after 2 Ibuprofen. I have been diligent with my flossing and brushing, post procedure, have changed the Oral-B rotary head and batteries. I was excited this morning to have NO bleeding with floss and brush. I found it a huge wonder, so soon after the FMD, to have such a positive result. I really wan
